Baker is a top 10 qb
The title of this article may seem a bit bias because I am a Buccaneer fan, but I think behind the incredible stats there are characteristics of Baker Mayfield’s game that are the type of a winning QB. The Bucs lost the game by 3 points to a somewhat healthier 49ers team, but watching Baker compete with the weapons he had was truly eye opening. With no Mike Evan’s or Chris Godwin for the last 4 weeks, he’s thrown 9 TDs and 4 INTs, and doesn’t have a completion percentage below 60% in all of those games.
With all their weapons healthy, I see this Bucs team as a division winner, and with Mike Evans coming back I am predicting that they sneak their way into the wildcard. Going 1-4 in their last 5 seems like it would not be the best time to declare that they will be in the playoff mix, but that is how much I believe in Baker. Speaking of believing, I have 0 belief in Todd Bowles, the Bucs’ head coach, and our swiss cheese like defense.
The Bucs’ have a bye week after losing 4 in a row which is definitely much needed, hopefully they can get healthy and be prepared for an LA Chargers team that has won 3 straight and has seemed to completely buy into Jim Harbaugh’s infectious brand of coaching. By the way, I totally DO NOT day dream about how Harbaugh could change the defensive culture in Tampa Bay everyday.
