Gators’ bite off more than they can chew

The Florida Gators and the Georgia Bulldogs; one of the most historical matchups in all of college football. This game is primarily played in Jacksonville, Florida so that both fan bases have to travel a bit to show their true dedication. The game was relatively slow which was good for Florida as they were able to take a 13-6 lead going into the half. Georgia kept Florida under control the first quarter by putting together a lengthy drive. Georgia’s QB, Carson Beck, has some glaring interception issues that we must cover. He threw 3 picks in this game and I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt on one, but the other 2 were atrocious. The first 2 were in the tightest windows you’ll ever see with more than 1 defender on both plays- does not look like an NFL QB.

Florida’s freshman QB DJ Lagway showed why he is going to be a potential Heisman candidate in the next few years. Standing 6’3” 240lbs, this kid is a problem. Lagway was able to keep the Georgia defense on their toes most of the time he was playing, and I think they have a legitimate shot to win that game if he stays healthy. Gators go up 13-6, heading into the second half with their 3rd string QB trembling at the site of that tremendous Georgia defensive line.

Georgia was able to control the second half with a decent running game and with Carson Beck making a few plays to get them to a 20-13 lead. The Gators tied it with 7:30 to go in the game. Georgia got a huge 3rd down conversion from Arian Smith which led to a TD on an end around to a Georgia receiver. Now 27-20, Florida had one last shot and the 3rd string throws a pick inside their own 30, which led to another Georgia TD.

No one really expected Florida to win this game but the way they played Georgia was really promising. Beck has some serious problems which may come back to bite Georgia in the ass later in the year. It’s really hard to trust a QB with an excessive amount of eyeblack and a tattoo sleeve on his throwing arm.
